Police officers rescue big buck from river

COLORADO -- Hooves are great over just about most kinds of terrain, but they fare poorly against ice.

This buck found that out the hard way when he fell into Colorado’s Big Thompson River and was unable to bring himself back on shore.

It is not uncommon for deer to brave frozen lakes and rivers during the winter, and the animals often die if they fall in.

Fortunately for this buck, police officers from Estes Park were called out to the scene and were able to bring it back on dry land.
