TEXAS -- Denton officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Sunburst Trail on Sunday in response to a domestic disturbance. The caller said his wife was having a psychotic episode and killed their cat.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman destroying items in the kitchen and not appearing to be in her right mind, according to a police report.
The officer was able to detain the woman in handcuffs, and through talking to her, determined she needed psychiatric evaluation, according to the report.
The woman said she was hearing voices, was a witch and killed her cat so she could eat it because it was a demon.
The officer found the dead cat and observed it had been disemboweled, and the intestines had been removed and were in a skillet on the stove as if the woman was going to cook them, the report said.
The officer took pictures of the scene and asked the woman whether she would be willing to go to the hospital to receive a psychological evaluation, and she agreed.
Officers transported her to a local health facility, where mental health deputies were called, according to the report. The report does not state when the woman became disagreeable but says the deputies involuntarily took the woman to the hospital for treatment.
