NORTH CAROLINA -- A man in Salisbury is facing a charge for animal cruelty after he threw his son’s kitten over 30 feet, causing it to be put down, police said.
Jeremy Edward Austin, 30, has been charged with one felony count of cruelty to animals. He was jailed on bond set at $2,500.
On Saturday about 11:30 a.m., Austin grabbed his 7-year-old son’s kitten and threw it about 30 feet, according to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report. The kitten suffered internal injuries and a broken leg and hip.
Because of the injuries, Animal Control had to have the kitten put down, the report said.
