Seized Fulton County pit bull remains in quarantine

OHIO -- A ’pit bull’ seized Wednesday by Fulton County authorities remains alive and is being held in quarantine at the county dog pound.

Bosco, a gray-and-white male dog, was taken by authorities from a foster home where he was staying after he bit a person earlier this month.

A Wauseon family adopted Bosco from Lucas County Pit Crew Dec. 23, but the family returned the dog to the rescue group after he bit one of his adopters Saturday.

Pit Crew officials, who said the dog was friendly with people and other animals while he was in their care, resisted Fulton County’s attempts to seize the dog, though county officials got a warrant Wednesday from a judge and seizing the dog that afternoon.

Pit Crew officials are concerned the county will kill the dog. The group recently has been investigating the county’s dog operations and been critical of the dog pound and dog warden there. The group’s executive director, Jean Keating, said she fears the county will kill Bosco out of spite.

Dog pound records show that Bosco will be held in quarantine until Jan. 8. County officials refused to comment on the case today.
