TEXAS -- A starving horse was rescued from the Acres Homes area of north Houston Wednesday.
The horse was emaciated with his ribs, backbone and pelvis clearly visible.
He had no access to food or water, according to the Houston Humane Society’s Animal Cruelty Investigation Team.
The horse is about 400 pounds underweight.
This is the first horse to be seized by HHS since Monty’s Task Force was established.
Monty’s Task Force was established to decrease the suffering of horses through education, increased access to low cost services and enforcement of local and state laws.
Its first major event is a horse clinic on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be held in the parking lot of HPD North. An HHS vet will be there to microchip horses for free. They’ll also offer low cost care including deworming, rabies vaccine, VEWT + Rhino vaccine, and West Nile vaccine.
