Arizona: Amber Dahl, 30, arrested, accused of starving her horses

ARIZONA -- A Litchfield Park woman is accused of animal abuse after two emaciated horses were found at her home and one of them had to be euthanized.

Maricopa County Superior Court records show 30-year-old Amber Dahl was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of two felony counts of animal cruelty.

She was released on her own recognizance after her initial court appearance Tuesday and doesn't have an attorney yet.

County sheriff's deputies say they went to Dahl's home on Feb. 5 and discovered the horses in the backyard of the property.

Dahl told authorities that she had owned the horses since early Aug. 1 and she hasn't been able to keep weight on them.

An equine veterinarian examined the horses and says they had not been provided the proper amount of food.
