Arizona: Angel Howard, 18, accused of trying to set dog on fire

ARIZONA -- An 18-year-old man who was accused of trying to set a dog on fire was arrested Monday on suspicion of animal cruelty.

Some of the dog's coat was singed, but the dog did not require medical treatment, said Officer Daniel Lucas, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Angel Howard, 18, was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of animal cruelty, domestic violence disorderly conduct and domestic violence trespassing, said Lucas Tuesday.

On Monday shortly before 11 a.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 4500 block of South Mission Road. Witnesses told police that the suspect tried to light their dog on fire, said Lucas.

Officers observed some singed hair on the dog, and the suspect's hands were burned, Lucas said. Officers also learned that the suspect was not allowed to be on the property.
