Canada: Hero Animal Control officer rescues elderly woman's cat, which was stuck in neighbor's crawlspace

CANADA -- Thanks to a kind Animal Control officer, Kiki the cat came back and a local woman couldn’t be happier.

Her cat had been missing for days, and eventually turned up stranded and stuck beneath a neighbor’s house.

“We’re glad to have him back,” says Barbara Tempan, owner of Kiki the cat.

Tempan says she was worried sick after Kiki had been missing for several days. ” It was hard to go to sleep at night wondering where he is. Thinking, has somebody stole him, or is he in a hole somewhere and cant get out?”

Turns out, that’s exactly what happened.  Kiki was found  cold, wet, scared and stuck in a crawl space underneath a neighbour’s home.

Animal Control was notified after the neighbour said she could hear an animal crying underneath her front porch.

Animal Control Officer Matt Brownlee spotted the cat at the bottom of a seven foot drop, “It was down there in a puddle and debris and crying and lost, and no way that it could get out on its own.”

Without hesitation, Brownlee suited up in his coveralls to dive in to the unknown abyss below.

Brownlee was able to lower himself down, calm the cat, and get him into a carrier before pulling himself out and bringing the cat back to his emotional owner.

“I was a little weepy,” said Tempan.

A happy ending to this cat tale, one which wouldn’t have been possible with the help of Animal Control.
