Canada: Kevin Pinkney and Tessa Taylor facing animal cruelty charges after SPCA seizure

CANADA -- A Nova Scotia couple is facing animal cruelty charges after the SPCA seized a number of animals from their property in the Annapolis Valley earlier this month.

The SPCA executed a search warrant at the couple’s West Dalhousie home on Feb. 11 and seized four rabbits and 24 dogs, including several newborn puppies.


Kevin Pinkney and Tessa Taylor are facing the following charges under the Animal Protection Act:


  • Failure to provide the animals with an adequate source of water
  • Failure to provide adequate medical attention
  • Failure to provide reasonable protection from injurious cold
  • Confining animals in an inadequate space and unsanitary conditions without providing the opportunity for exercise
  • Causing an animal to be in distress


Interference and obstruction of an officer in the exercise of the powers under the Animal Protection Act.

The SPCA says Pinkney and Taylor will appear in court at a later date.
