ILLINOIS -- A Marshall, Ill., teen has pleaded not guilty on a misdemeanor charge of depicting animal cruelty in a case that prompted public outrage.
Chazz A. Lindsey, 18, appeared in Clark County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning where his case was set for a status hearing on Feb. 17. Lindsey requested a jury trial.
Lindsey was criminally charged Oct. 20 after an investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Department into allegations that he was among three teenagers who made a video recording during which they tortured cats. Clearly proud of their handiwork, they later posted the horrific video on Facebook.
Tortured and killed four two-day old kittens. One kitten was skinned ALIVE, another kitten was DECAPITATED, and the last two kittens were KICKED to death. - Petition
The two minors have also been criminally charged, but because of their juvenile status, their court records are not available to the public.
The case has been the subject of speculation about the alleged animal cruelty and public criticism of the teens on social media.
