WEST VIRGINIA -- The Fayette County Sheriffs Department's Assistant Chief, Micheal Fridley released the following information:
Deputies received several tips from Social Media that Ernie Mitchell had used 2x4's to nail the dog house shut with the dog inside it.
Deputy's started their investigation after the reviewing the photos and interviewing. Ernie Mitchell is accused of animal cruelty and could face jail time and a fine up to $300 if convicted.
Mitchell is currently out on bond and the dog was taken to the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
Fridley said the department would not have known about the abuse if it had not been for multiple people notifying them through Facebook.
