WISCONSIN -- A Merrill man could be sentenced to three and a half years in prison for cruelty to animals causing death.
Court documents say 25-year-old David Brandenburg (Dave Brandenburg) became angry with a pet cat when it defecated outside of the litter box.
He's accused of throwing the cat against a door frame, which knocked it unconscious. It laid there and suffered until it died last October 12th.
After he killed the poor cat, he dumped its broken body into a bag and threw the bag into some nearby bushes. Brandenburg admitted to investigators he put the cat there.
Lincoln county District Attorney Donald Dunphy charged Brandenburg with felony mistreatment of an animal as a repeat criminal and felony bail jumping.
Brandenburg is scheduled for an initial court appearance February 18th.
