North Carolina: Rock Hill Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty for Leaving Dogs in Car

NORTH CAROLINA -- Police charged a woman with animal cruelty after she left two dogs in a car in a South Anderson Road parking lot on Monday.

The Ford Escort was parked outside York Technical College with two medium dogs when a passer-by noticed them. The windows of the vehicle were cracked partially.


The responding officer noticed there wasn’t any food or water in the car for the dogs. The temperature outside was around 87 degrees at 4:20 p.m., according to the police report notes.

Destinee Hailey, 23, came back to her car 45 minutes after the officer had arrived at the scene. Hailey admitted to leaving the dogs in the car, according to the report.

She was charged with ill treatment of animals and book into the Rock Hill city jail, according to the report.

The two dogs were released to a co-worker of Hailey.
