ILLINOIS -- A 37-year-old Georgetown man, Douglas Gustin, pleaded guilty in court Wednesday to one count of animal cruelty.
The Vermilion County State's Attorney's office confirms Gustin was arrested back in March after allegedly posting a picture on Facebook of his cat covered in duct tape.
After getting complaints, a Georgetown police officer found the post on Facebook, printed out the pictures and accompanying messages from Gustin's page and went to his residence in the 100 block of North Seminary.
Gustin denied the incident to police, who arrested him for animal cruelty, said Bolin, who added that the cat was not injured. He has been ordered to pay court costs and a fine for the misdemeanor.
The cat has since recovered at the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
