New York: Pit bull owner's arm nearly ripped off in pack mauling

NEW YORK -- A Brooklyn man nearly had his arm ripped off when one of his seven pit bulls went berserk and attacked him, police and sources said.

The man was mauled about 8:25 a.m. inside a building on Flatbush Ave. near E. 34th St. in Flatlands, police said.

He suffered a severe bite on his forearm and was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The dogs — named Beach, Willim, Jamie, Lula, Speed, Cancun, and Nel — were all taken to an Animal Care Centers of NYC facility in Brooklyn by members of the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit, sources said.

The NYPD's Animal Cruelty Investigations Squad is investigating the case.
