TEXAS -- A total of 12 animals are getting veterinary care after they were seized by the Houston Humane Society and Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables.
According to officials, the animals had been living in deplorable conditions at a residence in the 10900 block of Ell Road in northeast Harris County.
The conditions we found them in were some of the worst I've ever seen," said Monica Schmidt of the Houston Humane Society. "It's heartbreaking to see animals suffering needlessly."
The animals included two horses, two pigs, six chickens and roosters and two dogs. All were seized last Friday.
Veterinarians are treating the animals for a range of issues, including malnourishment (starvation), neglect, severe skin disease and parasites.
The animals are now up for adoption. Visit HoustonHumane.org for more information.
