At 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to check on a small child walking alone in the area of Rio Grande Road. Police spoke with the mother, Emmaline Amelia Ramirez, 26, who said her son got out briefly while she was cleaning. Ramirez was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear and was held for court. The child was placed in the care of a friend at the mother’s request.
