Missouri: Two dog attacks reported in Joplin

MISSOURI -- A pit bull has been quarantined in Joplin for 10 days after biting a 37-year old woman in the 700 block of West McCord Street.

Police responded at 9:30 a.m. after Baird said the dog belonging to a neighbor bit the woman on the arm and elbow area, and tore a large wound on the back of one of her legs. The dog did receive a rabies vaccination in April, he said.

At 1:07 p.m., officers were called to the 400 block of West McCord where Baird said a medium size black dog wandered by and a two-year-old girl "accidentally startled" it and the animal bit her on the face, causing a minor wound.

If it's walking by, how is it your fault that you 'startled it'?

That dog has not been located.
