TEXAS -- Two teens were arrested Thursday and charged with a horrific case of animal cruelty.
Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen said they beheaded one llama and shot another back in March. Lorenzo Llama, the one that was shot, survived.
Rosen called it one of the most disturbing animal cruelty cases of recent months in the Houston area.
"What we worry about is someone who's willing to do that will transition to doing this to humans. This is a segueway to doing other things," Rosen said. "That was a big area of concern for us."
The 16-year-old boys are charged with animal cruelty and misdemeanor criminal mischief. .
"When we started sniffing, around they tried getting rid of some of the evidence that they'd kept," Rosen said.
They were arrested on their last day of school at Tomball High School.
The boys' names haven't been released since they are juveniles.
Rosen said area residents were very relieved to hear about the arrests.
"Animals have no voice and we have to be their voice. A lot of people in the llama community wanted this solved."
