Images of a wall of flames devouring a Fresno neighborhood Thursday night, use to be the home of Angelo.
"I thought it was an awful dream but its reality", says damaged home owner Lisa Van.
Van's home was virtually destroyed in the fire, but not everything was lost.
"He got burned last night and he ran away and I was waiting for him at home and we drove around town trying to find him", says Van.
Angelo came home Friday morning and huddled under a charred piece of furniture. Van says, "just a lot of pain and I can't imagine how much he's going through".
The Central California SPCA had been out earlier in the day, but the shell shocked family didn't ask for help.
Um, what????
Eyewitness News saw video of Angelo and made a call and the CCSPCA was back at the scene in minutes.
Angelo had to be pulled from under the furniture by an animal control officer. Within minutes he was at Veterinarian Emergency Service on McKinley Avenue.
"We started an IV catheter and and were doing fluid therapy to resuscitate and really good pain control", says Veterinarian Erin Zimowske.
Angelo is fighting hard to survive, but it will take time. Zimowske says, "with burn wounds you don't know whether the wounds are going to get worse before they get better".
Angelo's owner grateful the beloved pet survived the inferno. Van says, "its a blessing because he's part of our family and we couldn't bear to lose him".
