MAINE -- Police in Georgetown have arrested a man for animal cruelty after the body of a dog was found stuffed in a bag of dog food.
CBS affiliate WBTW in Myrtle Beach reports 27-year-old Desmain Campbell was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals, permitting domestic animals to run at large, and failure to bury an animal.
Officers tell WBTW that they first responded to a call at Campbell's home in June after neighbors said his dog was running up and down the street and chasing people.
According to WBTW, officers were then called again about dogs being mistreated at Campbell's residence. When officers entered, they found a dead dog stuffed inside a bag of dog food, next to another dog's kennel.
Officers found the dogs on the property in dirty kennels and were not able to get to food or water in the 90-degree weather. WBTW also reports that officers removed a female with puppies, and two additional dogs.
