Michigan: Already convicted of animal cruelty, Darrin Pickard, Jr. pleaded guilty to new charge after leaving puppy in hot car

MICHIGAN -- A Manistee man arrested for leaving a dog in a car on a hot day has admitted to the crime.

Last month Traverse City police say Darrin Pickard, Jr. left a 10-week-old Doberman Pinscher puppy locked inside a pet crate in a hot car at Munson Medical Center for nearly four hours.

Pickard Jr. was in court Thursday and pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.

In May Pickard Jr. was also ordered to pay $19,000 in restitution for a February animal cruelty conviction in Manistee County. His wife Brittanie Wiggins Pickard (Brittannie Pickard) was also charged.

Pickard Jr. will be sentenced in Grand Traverse County in September.
