Colorado: Dog killer Eric Miller sentenced to probation, anger management classes

COLORADO -- A Colorado man convicted of killing and burying his neighbor’s dog has been sentenced to two years of probation.

Eric Miller, 54, was also ordered to go through anger management classes and complete 100 hours of community service.

Miller shot the dog in 2015 simply because it had come onto his property in a rural neighborhood near Rollinsville, prosecutors said.

Miller shot the dog twice, removed its collar and buried it in a shallow grave, according to the district attorney’s office.

“It really messed me up,” Josh Davis, who owned the dog, Ragnar, told FOX31 Denver in 2015.

Davis’ roommate said he let Ragnar outside, he heard a gunshot followed by the sounds of a crying dog coming from private land next door.

“You wouldn’t think that someone would shoot your dog,” Davis said. “They drove up to the guy’s property. He had an AR-15 in his hand and said, ‘I didn’t shoot a dog.’”

But when Ragnar didn’t come home, Davis said they revisited the property the next day.

“We found a blood trail coming down, off the back of the hill from [Miller’s] property,” Davis said.

At the bottom of the hill his roommate found shallow grave.

“He stuck his hands in and about 8 inches deep was Ragnar’s body,” Davis said.
