Florida: Woman unsure what to do with her aggressive pit bull

FLORIDA -- Posted on the Pasco County Animal Services Facebook page:

Hello,
We have a dog (Rayne) who is aggressive towards our other animals and recently attacked our other dog (Kimi) and has cost us over $1,000 in vet bills.

Rehoming Rayne is our top priority right now, although I have been trying to find her a home (or a rescue to take her in) for over a year.

Rayne is a Colby-Razor Pit bull that my parents got from my mother's friend about two years ago, for the first six months she got along great with our other two pit bulls (Kimi & Ollie) and then one day she went after Kimi.

Since then, Rayne has attacked Kimi twice and she even tries to get to Kimi and Ollie through their kennels. It is very unfortunate because Rayne is extremely smart, affectionate, and loyal. When my father walks her she will sit and stay even when other dogs run up to her (sometimes off leash) barking and nipping. But any other animal living in a home with her she has conflict with and aggression towards.

Since she attacked Kimi (two weeks ago) we have been considering euthanizing her. I have reached out to so many rescue groups and shelters over the past year and no one wants to take her in due to her needing a single pet home.

We have even offered to foster her in exchange for a rescue posting her for adoption. However, we do not know if it is responsible for us to rehome a dog that is somewhat unpredictable & aggressive towards other animals in the home, we would hate to rehome her and get a phone call that she bit a kid or another pet.

We discussed it with the vet and she agrees that euthanization is a reasonable option, considering Rayne's history. We have tried trainers but did not find they had a solution. Rayne really needs to find a home by the end of the month or we will have no option but to euthanize her, which is the last thing we want to do.
