North Carolina: Horse taken into custody after animal cruelty case

NORTH CAROLINA -- An investigation into animal cruelty in Lake Waccamaw has resulted in Animal Control taking custody of at least one horse.

The animal was held in a pen without food, or shelter and only stagnant water to drink.

Columbus County Sheriff and Animal Control units are continuing to investigate and more action may be forthcoming.

Animal Control Director Joey Prince refused to comment, only stating that there was an investigation into animal cruelty that is ongoing in that area.
