Ohio: Columbus Police officer shoots dog after being bitten

OHIO -- Columbus Police are investigating after they say an officer was bitten by a dog, and then shot it.

Sgt. Rich Weiner with the Columbus Police Department said officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at the storage facility in the area of 2087 South Hamilton Road around 8:07 p.m. The argument was between a male and female.

Weiner said the dog attacked a male officer. He and two other officers shot at the dog. The dog belonged to one of the people in the dispute, but police are unsure which one.

The dog was taken by animal control, according to the woman involved in the domestic disturbance.

The officer was taken to Riverside in stable condition.

An hour later, the woman told police she was struck during the incident. She denied treatment. CPD’s CERT team is investigating.

No one has been arrested in the incident.
