California: Pit bull jumps 9 foot wall to attack woman's dog

CALIFORNIA -- "I don't think I have many FB friends in my immediate neighborhood, but you can share this with anyone you know in the Sycamore/Monument area.

"My dog was attacked by a brown & white pit bull that jumped off a 9 ft wall onto Monument from the side of the house at the corner of Monument and Vintage Court. I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for some good Samaritans because I was on the ground kicking the dog and yelling to no effect. I recommend anyone with a dog stay away from that house - the owners told the police their brown and white pit bull had not been outside.

"I haven't heard anything from Animal Control yet so I'm assuming the dog is still at that home. My dog has multiple puncture wounds, and we have $1,000 vet bill so far. We adopted the dog in part so that the kids could take her for walks and learn to be more independent. Now I'm too afraid to let them out with her.

"Any suggestions have for how I can protect my dog in the future would be appreciated. Someone has suggested carrying a little air horn, which I will try."
