Illinois: An Elderly Decatur Woman Was Attacked by 2 Dogs, Now Her Family Wants Justice

ILLINOIS -- A Decatur woman is recovering after two dogs attacked her leaving the her with life threatening injuries.

Connie Vo is in her 60's and suffers from COPD family and friends were shocked by this tragic event, and say all they want is to prevent something like this from happening to someone else.

“Loving caring, good heart. Would do anything for anybody," Said Maleeia Lee Connie’s caregiver when asked to describe Connie.

Connie suffered a vicious dog attack Friday afternoon.

"A black Pit bull came out and just attacked her," Said Cherity Simper the Granddaughter of Connie.

Cherity was there when that black Pit bull was joined by another dog in attacking her grandmother. Leaving Connie with gruesome wounds.

"From my experience this is something that I can’t forget, it just replays over in my head," Said Cherity.

The attack caused Connie to have 70 stitches all together both on her face and her arm.

Cherity says she has always been close with her grandmother.

"She's been there since I was a little girl." Said Cherity.

Others close to Connie say this attack was no accident.

"I understand the difference between a bite. And that was not a bite. That was attempt to kill," Said Maleeia.

However, [Maleeia insists we shouldn't blame] the event on the breed of dog.

"I have a pit as well and she's almost three years old and the only thing she would do is jump on you and lick you to death," Said Maleeia.

MELEEIA, YOU NEED TO SHUT UP.

But, they were told this isn't the first time the dogs have caused a scene.

"To our understand that the neighbors and everything have been making complaints about these animals over there in that area and nothing has been done about it," Said Maleeia.

Now Connie’s family and friends are hopeful, that something will finally be done.
"I’d like to see them put down,” Said Maleeia.

The dogs are currently in custody of Macon County Animal Control where they are being quarantined and observed.

This attack is still under investigation and Macon County Animal Control hasn't yet decided what they will be doing with the animals. They are hoping to have a decision by the end of the week. As for Connie she is now out of Intensive Care and is expected to recover slowly.
