Pazos will be sentenced next month in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated assault. As part of the plea, he is expected to be sentenced to two years in prison. He had faced up to 22 years.
Pazos’ attorney, James Bogen, said the woman’s account of what happened changed at least once. Bogen noted that few, if any, rape cases are resolved with plea deals that don't require a defendant to register as a sex offender.
“Obviously, the accusations were very disturbing,” Bogen said. “At the same time, we felt we had a strong defense to them.”
But, he added, "juries can be unpredictable."
