Oklahoma: Little Boy Viciously Attacked By Pit Bull, But Owner Says It’s ‘His Fault’

OKLAHOMA -- If all you saw was Buck Sargent's smile, you'd never guess the two year old was recently mauled by a dog.

"It was horrible," his mother told FOX 25.

Stephanie Sargent says it happened Tuesday night. It was her cousin's pit bull-lab mix and they all live together near Southeast 54th and Bryant Avenue. Another family member was making dinner when she saw the attack.

"She seen him hug the dog and then the dog just attacked him," she said.

Sargent says she spent hours in the emergency room. Buck wound up with four stitches under his eye, and lacerations inside his nose and mouth.

She says he's staying strong, but he's in a lot of pain. The following day, she called police.

"They didn't even get rid of the dog. It's still at the house," she said.

FOX 25 called police, who told us they responded to a domestic call. According to police, threats were made from both sides, but no citations were issued.

Police say they didn't even know about the attack, and that if they had, animal welfare would've been notified to take control of the animal.

No report was officially filed.

FOX 25 also talked with the dog's owner, Chad Hall. Hall says he wasn't there, but the attack isn't his dog's fault. He says the dog was provoked and he's not getting rid of the animal.

"What would you do if you were a dog and someone was trying to ride you and get on your back?" he asked. "I tried to get them to see my side of the story, but they couldn't see it."

Sargent says this is the second time her boy's been attacked by the dog in the last month. She says she plans to file an official police report to try and get the dog out of the house.
