PENNSYLVANIA -- Fatally shooting a woman’s dog could land a Titusville area man behind bars for up to two years when he is sentenced later this month in Crawford County Court of Common Pleas.
Timothy R. Ralston, 34, of 11162 Ralston Road, pleaded guilty Thursday in county court before President Judge Anthony Vardaro to a charge of animal cruelty for killing the dog at his Oil Creek Township home with an AR-15-style rifle on Nov. 12, 2015.
In January of this year, Pennsylvania State Police at Corry charged Ralston with cruelty to animals, false reports to law enforcement and criminal mischief.
Police said Ralston killed the Elkhorn breed dog, owned by Heather Miller, and then falsely blamed another man for the animal’s death.
I have never heard of an "Elkhorn breed dog". I think they mean Elkhound aka Norwegian Elkhound.
In a plea agreement with the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office, Ralston pleaded guilty Thursday to animal cruelty while the false reports and criminal mischief counts will be dropped.
Ralston faces up to two years in jail and a $5,000 fine when he is sentenced Sept. 30 by Vardaro. Ralston remains free his own recognizance.
