His wife called 911 & the lady across the street called the Sheriffs Dept. Mr. Brown gave up, went in his house & came back with his rifle, fired several shots towards the sky scaring the Pits off Sam long enough for us to get to Sam. But the Pits jumped him again pushing him into some shrubs, which probably saved his life because they could not get to his throat due to the dense shrubs.
We got them away from Sam long enough for me to get him up & out of the shrubs & at that point Sam slipped his collar & ran heading for home about a mile away.
At the top of a hill we saw Sam, we stopped & I yelled "Sam, lets load up" and here he came, jumped into the truck, sat in my lap & put his head on my shoulder.
Sam had no wounds from this experience, but we were both so thankful to Mr & Mrs Brown & the gentleman that fired up his truck to rescue Sam again as he was headed home & would have to cross a VERY busy street.
After several hours with 2 Deputy Sheriffs & Animal Control, we learned where the Pits came from (they are not people aggressive, but animal aggressive) & will be spayed & neutered & will cost the people they belong to $1,000.00 to get them back under the condition they are secure in a pen.
This is the 3rd time I have had a dog attack/jump one of my dogs. Our 1st Boykin rescue in 06 was jumped by a Pointer & the owner was home & got the dog off Joe. The 2nd was by a Pit who attacked a Boykin we were fostering. Sprayed pepper spray into her face & she just kept coming.Owner finally came & pulled her off KC.
