Texas: Woman asks for help paying for Beagle named Maya, who was mauled in her own yard by two pit bulls

TEXAS -- Hi My name is Rosy. I am the grandmother of Maya. In the past 10 years Maya has been really close to me. She belongs to my daughter Monica.

Monica and all my grandkids including Maya lived with me for 4 years. 6 months ago she moved out to become independent with her kids. Maya had to stay behind with me until Monica was ready to take Maya with them. She was going to finally be taken home with Monica this weekend.

Unfortunately 2 days ago Maya and my dog Rorro were attacked by two giant pit bulls in my own back yard. The 2 pits jumped the wall and attacked Maya the worst. I thought she was dead.

My son Carlos ran outside and grabbed a shovel and scared them off my property. Carlos took her to the animal emergency on airway blvd . Monica met Carlos there a few minutes later. Maya was getting prepped for all kinds of stuff that would come out to more than $2,000.

At that moment Monica decide to take Maya to Juarez instead, were it wouldn't be so much money. She still had to pay for cleaning Mayas wounds and giving her a pain shot. Maya is still in Juarez and is stable. At first she was really sad and the doctor though she might had lost to much blood. But Maya then started to show signs that she wanted to fight for her life. So the they want to keep her longer at the vet in Juarez.

Maya needs her wounds to be flushed out and clean from any bacteria. They want to be able to have some of her wounds close a little bit before they discharge her home.

All of this has made Monica spend everything she has been saving. She has very little resources. She is a single mom who is not receiving any child support.

I personally decided to open this fund in order to get hep for my daughter in this difficult time and unexpected emergency. I am looking to get help from those animal lovers and friends and family who can help as soon as possible.

My son and I are still trying to get animal services to do something about this. They keep closing the case because they found no dogs, even tho my son told them exactly where they came from.

The owner is an old man who said his pit bulls didn't do anything. We just don't want those vicious pit bulls to jump someone else's yard with little children playing. Thank you all for your support and understanding.
