Arizona: "His lips were basically ripped off" says friend of young man attacked by pit bull he had known "for years"

ARIZONA -- Found out tonight that one of my best people was viciously attacked by a pit bull that he's known for years (roommate's dog). He's in surgery to repair his face. His lips were basically ripped off.

I hate those dogs. There is such a thing as a dangerous dog breed, and lots of times it has nothing to do with their owner. ("There's no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner " - NO EFFING WAY!)

Please pray that my friend heals quickly and isn't permanently disfigured.
I'm sick with worry, feel totally helpless and antsy, and just feel horrible that he and his sweet love have to go through this trial, because it's going to be a long road to normal.

If you are going to post something smart ass about how great your pit bull is, please dont. Instead, pray for my sweet friend. I love dogs, but facts are facts, and unfortunately, this isn't a rare occurrence.

Ana Maria Montano: I'm so sorry about your friend ... I'm always afraid of those dogs. Praying for his recovery

Michael Magee: I've had a number of dog bite cases involving pit bulls. Every pit bull owner swears their dog is sweet and friendly and would never hurt anyone. Then one day the pit bull remembers it's a pit bull.

Eric Owens: So sorry to hear that! Bizarre that a pitbull tried to attack our dog Eve and I yesterday also but we got off easy. I love animals, but a breed of dog that goes straight for a kill shot on your dog, or attacks humans unprovoked like your friend, is a breed I just can't love.

Kyle Molly Zimmerman: I have had too many run ins with pit bulls. The scariest was the one that chased Kyle and Kailey on his motorcycle and then turned around and chased at me when I was pregnant. Hope your friend recovers ok!

Jamey Robison Zurawski: My very good friend is a plastic surgeon and he feels the same about this breed and many others too. So very very sorry Erin. Xo
