A woman complained that Smith’s pit bull had bitten her grandchild.
When Palm Beach County Animal Control Officer Tania Quinones arrived to investigate the scene, she asked Smith if she had any other dogs. At this time, a man poked his head out of the door at the West 34th Street home.
“You might want to let her take that one too,” he reportedly told Smith.
Quinones also reported smelling a strong odor of urine and feces.
Both dogs were taken to the Animal Care and Control where the Pit Bull named Cinamin was later euthanized for aggression and the Chihuahua named Diego only weighed in at five pounds.
Veterinarians continued to treat Diego and it was later adopted to another family after gaining nearly 1/3 of its body weight.
The judge ruled to hold Smith on $6,000 bond and said she is not to have any type of contact with any other animals.
