Michigan: Charged with 53 COUNTS of animal cruelty, Courtney Eggli, 51, is allowed to plead guilty to just 2 COUNTS of animal cruelty

MICHIGAN -- The 51-year-old Traverse City woman who was arrested for neglecting cats entered a plea.

CHARGED WITH 53 COUNTS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY...

PROSECUTORS AGREE TO DISMISS 51 COUNTS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY IN EXCHANGE FOR EGGLI PLEADING GUILTY TO JUST 2 COUNTS(!)

Michigan does not appear to be a state that values animals - at least in the criminal justice system.

"Michigan: Rishi Joshi, 26, facing 93 days in jail for breaking his St. Bernard puppy's ribs. For ripping the side mirrors off his friend's car, he's facing 365 days in jail"

Courtney Eggli (aka Courtney Aimee Brigman Eggli, Courtney Brigman) pleaded guilty to a charge of animal abandonment and cruelty of ten or more animals in Grand Traverse County.

Back in August, police and HAZMAT crews removed at least ten cats from her home on West 13 Street in Traverse City. There were around 50 animals total - dead and alive - inside the ammonia-filled, feces, and urine-covered home.

Investigators say five cats were found dead and five more had been euthanized.

Eggli is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 1.
