Michigan: Dog's ear ripped off after being attacked by a pit bull; owner bitten too as she saved her dog

MICHIGAN -- Poor Lola was attacked by a pit bull tonight..her ear is ripped in half and I got bit as well.. Owner is taking responsibility for it all and paying the bills..at emergency vet clinic now then off for a tetanus shot.. I'm going to be up all night now..

They are keeping Lola overnight. She will have surgery on her ear tonight.They have to check her completely out in the operating room.She will lose some of her ear.But there is a possibility that she will be left with a stump ear-aka-just a small flap of skin at the top of her ear. So she may be a 1 eared dog. Her ear drum wasn't injured and her hearing is great.I get her back tomorrow and she will need a funnel for 10 days.

Even though,it may have been crazy to attempt to separate an aggressive dog from mine. But I love Lola. She has been nothing but good to me.Those whom have met her,know that she is a happy calm and loving girl. So,it is my job to protect her no matter what.

I did end up with minor bites, scratches and bruises. I am thankful that it didn't turn out much more worse than it could have been. Both Lola and I made new friends in this apartment complex with all the people/neighbors that came out to help us tonight.

Lola is home now. They couldn't save all of her ear. Half of it was removed.. She is drugged up with 3 meds and trying to figure out how the funnel works. My poor poobutt

Just found injuries to Lola's right ear.(the left one was the amputated one) Luckily it's only superficial..
