Pennsylvania: Elderly woman attacked - TWICE - by grandson's pit bull. Dog also bites police officer.

PENNSYLVANIA -- A 75-year-old woman was bitten several times and seriously injured by her grandson's dog, and a Pittsburgh police officer was also bitten after being called to help.

Police said the owner of the pit bull won't face charges for the incident, which happened early Monday morning at a home in the 2500 block of Allequippa Street in West Oakland.

 

 

Police and paramedics responded and were attending to the victim when the dog escaped the back yard, ran onto the front porch and bit the woman again after the owner couldn't control it.

A female police officer was also bitten on the left leg by the pit bull.

Officers eventually used a catchpole to grab the dog and remove it from the scene.

The woman was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in serious condition. The officer was treated and released from the hospital. Their names have not been released.

 

Leroy McPherson said his mother lives next door to the victim. He said he doesn't see any aggression from the multiple dogs at the home when he visits the neighborhood.

"Never even come to the side of the fence and barked or growled or anything like that," McPherson said.
