Mr. Jones also has been charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The two kept 11 cats inside a roasting-hot, feces- and urine-coated rental truck from Aug. 23 through Sept. 9, Officer McGlone has alleged.
All cats showed signs of respiratory illness, McGlone has alleged.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jones, who has a prior conviction for daytime burglary, unlawfully kept a Remington .30-06 and a Marlin .22-caliber in a gun case inside the rental truck, McGlone has alleged.
Harrison Chief Magistrate Frank DeMarco set bond at $5,000 for Mr. Jones and $2,200 for Ms. Jones.
