NEW YORK -- The owners of a dog that was shot in the eye are now offering a reward to anyone that can find the shooter.
The dog, Cooper, wandered away from his backyard in Williamson last Wednesday. When the Chrisley family found him two days later, the golden retriever had been shot in the eye.
He is recuperating at home now under a veterinarian's care. The Chrisleys say they don't think his injury is an accident. They're offering a $1,000 reward for information.
"We haven't determined whether it was intentional or accidental. But certainly -- if it was intentional and if people would come forward and tell us who is responsible -- we certainly would conduct an investigation, interview people that know more about it than we do," says Trooper Mark O'Donnell, “if there is enough probable cause to make the arrest."
Troopers say they are still not sure where Cooper was when he was shot. Anyone with information can contact state police at 315-589-2046.
A GoFundMe account was set up to help with Cooper's medical expenses with more than $20,000 that has been raised so far.
