California: Benicia Police Department helps save wayward dog and reunite her with her owner

CALIFORNIA -- Benicia Police Department added to Facebook January 17, 2017

A Benicia family was reunited with its furry daughter today!

Our officers along with Benicia Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol and other community members have been keeping an eye out for Lillie Francine, a 4-year-old dog of the Halls, who was reported missing on Thursday.

While our Animal Control Officer was looking for her this morning, a few people called in from the freeway on the East side of town reporting seeing a loose dog.

A California Highway Patrol officer arrived at the scene first and took Lillie into safety. We contacted the owner and Lillie was reunited with Mr. Mark Hall.

We are so glad that Lillie was safe and was able to come home, but most importantly, we are proud to be part of this amazing community.

We’d like to thank everyone who took time to help look for Lillie and we would like to especially thank our partners in the California Highway Patrol for saving Lillie from a very dangerous situation.

It’s important to remember that every time the Highway Patrol officers stop and do their work on our interstate freeways they put themselves at risk to help make the community safer.
