New Jersey: Shawn Sullivan admits he left 3 dogs in a hot car

NEW JERSEY -- A man was issued a fine after he admitted to leaving three dogs locked inside his car on a hot day in August last year.

Shawn Sullivan pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals and was ordered to pay $500 during a court appearance Thursday.

Sullivan said during the appearance that he had parked in a Shopright parking lot in Hamilton on Aug. 10 and left three of his dogs in the car while he went into the store. He admitted that it was a hot day but said he left his dogs with water and with the windows down.

It was not immediately clear how the incident was reported to police.

Sullivan was admitted into the pre-trial intervention program for another case, Mercer County prosecutors said Thursday.
