Iowa: Suzette Stocker, 69, charged with 18 counts of Animal Cruelty

IOWA -- Ottumwa police have made an arrest in the animal hoarding case KTVO told you about Wednesday.

Suzette Kay Stocker, 69, was charged with 18 counts of animal cruelty.

This was after officers executed a search warrant and found 13 cats and five dogs on her property at 218 East Woodland Wednesday morning.

Animal control officer Jeff Williams told KTVO the animals were living in poor, unsanitary conditions.

None of the animals were dead, and each one was taken to Pipestone Veterinarian Services for treatment.

HOUSE CONDEMNED
A health inspector entered the home, and five minutes later, stepped back outside, checking the bottom of his shoes. He placarded the dwelling around 11:30 a.m.

A press release from the Ottumwa Police Department said Stocker has surrendered the animals to the city.

The release also said the residence has been placarded by the Ottumwa Health Department.

Stocker is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on March 2.
