Massachusetts: Public raises over $4,700 for vet bills of pit bull attack victim

MASSACHUSETTS -- A GoFundMe campaign is running to cover the vet bills of "Doc" the little terrier that ultimately died of his wounds sustained in a pit bull attack on Doc and his owner last week.

As of 10:25 a.m. on February 8th, the campaign had raised just over $4,700 towards a $7,000 goal.

Last Wednesday evening, Christine Lovico of Yarmouth was walking Doc on Roberta Drive.  The loose pit bull lunged at her and snatched Doc out of her hands. Both owner and dog were injured during the four minute attack.

Doc later died of his injuries despite his veterinarian's best efforts to save the little dog's life.

A published report states that the Yarmouth Police Department and Yarmouth Department of Natural Resources are working on recommendations regarding the town's leash law, most especially a stiff increase in fines for dogs caught off-leash.
