You'll see below that although they said he COULD spend up to "four years in prison", they cut him loose on "discretionary parole" after just over a year. That is so pathetic. Why bother? Where else does 4 years = 1 year?

Tip leads cops to alleged car thieves
By the Lincoln Journal Star Aug 29, 2012
Three men who allegedly stole one car and broke into several others are in jail Wednesday, thanks to a tip from a watchful neighbor.
After observing several men looking into cars near 46th and Linden streets, a neighbor called police just after 4:55 a.m., Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said.
Police arrived and found Mathew T. Hall, 19, and Richard E. McLaughlin, 18, pulling on car door handles.
Both men were taken into custody and were found to have several stolen items in their possession, including a red 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP parked nearby. A key to the vehicle was found in Hall’s right front pocket.
The car belongs to a man who lives near 38th and Calvert streets. Police believe one of the men climbed through the window of a detached garage and stole the vehicle, along with a laptop computer.
About a block away, police found a third man, Cody R. Sharp, 18, and took him into custody.
All three men have been lodged in jail on suspicion of burglary and auto theft, Flood said.
Police still are trying to determine how many vehicles were broken into and how many of the items recovered were stolen, Flood said.
