West Virginia: Andred Davis, 36, charged after dragging puppy down sidewalk

WEST VIRGINIA -- A man has been charged with a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty after witnesses say he was dragging a puppy on a concrete sidewalk for multiple blocks.

Andred C. Davis, 36, of Huntington is charged with misdemeanor cruelty to animals.

According to the criminal complaint, Cabell County dispatch received a call Monday from someone saying a man was dragging a puppy down a sidewalk in the 400 block of 9th Street.

Huntington Police arrived on scene and found all of the dogs claws had been ground off to the point that they were bleeding, according to the criminal complaint.

According to court documents, the dog also had an abrasion on its face and its stomach was red.

Davis told police he was pulling the dog because he wouldn't walk and he was attempting to train him.

He was taken into custody without incident.
