Delaware: New Castle County Police Officer attacked by two Pit Bulls; both dogs shot and killed

DELAWARE -- Today, (October 10) at approximately 12:00 p.m., New Castle County Police Patrol Officers were dispatched to the unit block of Bunche Boulevard in reference to a home burglary alarm activation.

Upon arrival, the officer learned that the alarm was triggered from a back door. When the officer walked around to the rear yard, the officer was attacked by two dogs resembling pit-bull terriers.

The officer discharged a conducted energy weapon (Taser) at one of the dogs but was unsuccessful. The officer was then able to shoot and euthanize one dog.

After searching the area for the second dog it was located on the unit block of Morehouse. The dog remained aggressive and was euthanized by assisting officers.

The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The homeowners were cited by Delaware Animal Services for two counts of Dog at Large and two counts of Failure to Inoculate.

MEANWHILE...

Dea Crawford seems to think that any dog, even her Boston Terriers, could have attacked this officer and sent him to the hospital. Um, yeah, not too many vicious Bostons running around out there attacking people.
