Florida: Pit Bull attacks little boy, 4, while he's in bed sleeping

FLORIDA -- A 4-year-old boy is in Florida Hospital Kissimmee on Wednesday morning after being bitten by a pit bull overnight, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy sustained lacerations to his forehead, nose, right cheek and behind his left ear, Lt. Kenneth Taylor said.

The incident occurred in the 13000 block of Turtle Marsh Road in Orlando, in the Hunter’s Creek neighborhood, after the boy’s mother invited her boyfriend over, the sheriff’s office said. The dog belongs to the boyfriend, troopers said.

While the mother and boyfriend were in the living room, the dog entered the boy’s bedroom and attacked him, Taylor said. The boy was asleep.

Animal services officials were notified and placed a 10-day quarantine on the animal, with an option for euthanasia with the owner’s consent.

Child-abuse detectives were notified.
