According to Captain Tim Koncki, a spokesman for the Creve Coeur Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on October 9, 2017, on Beacon Hill Lane.
The owners of the attacked dog rushed their pet to a local veterinarian, but it died shortly thereafter.
Following the deadly attack, police contacted animal control, which refused to remove the dog from the home.
Police said they issued a citation for "running at large" to the dog's owner. The citation means the owner has a court date, where they could face charges but it is more likely to be a fine.
Also it appears they have no intentions of putting any sort of restrictions on this killer Mastiff.
No other details have been released.
UPDATE TO STORY:
Apparently there was so much uproar about Animal control refusing to do their jobs and seize this vicious, killer dog, that they finally were shamed into doing their jobs -- and went and picked up the dog. Per, the Creve Coeur Police Department's Facebook page:
Update to this story, the St Louis County Animal Control came and took custody of the aggressive dog this afternoon.
It appears Creve Coeur doesn't have a local ordinance regarding dangerous dogs. The state, however, makes it very clear that you can kill any dog that is chasing, attacking and killing animals. They should have shot that dog and been done with it.
