Oregon: Pit bull attacking children shot by Woodburn officer, police say

OREGON -- Police say an officer shot a pit bull that was attacking children who were walking home from school Thursday afternoon.

Woodburn police said they received a call at 2:50 p.m. about a “vicious dog” running loose in the 500 block of Comstock Ave. The caller said the dog, a brown and beige pit bull, was trying to bite people.

Officers arrived and attempted to get the children out of the area but the dog continued to charge. The dog was shot after it charged at an officer, police said.

After the dog was shot, the owners were located and they took the dog to get medical care.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Woodburn police at 503-982-2345.
